Privacy Policy

The “Farm to Fork” Congress, organized mainly by Centro de Apoio Tecnológico Agro Alimentar CATAA), informs all participants about its personal data privacy policy so that they can willingly decide to provide personal data collected during registration and the eventual submission of works for presentation, both in oral communication and poster formats.

This Privacy Policy describes how CATAA processes the personal data of all individuals and how it is committed to ensuring and protecting privacy and collected data with rigor, efficiency, and security, guided by strict ethical principles. Only the strictly necessary data for congress registration and organization will be collected for the “Farm to Fork” Congress.

CATAA undertakes to treat participants’ and authors’ data in a clear and responsible manner.
1. CATAA is the entity responsible for collecting and processing personal data related to the registration for the “Farm to Fork” Congress. CATAA commits to ensuring the privacy, security, and confidentiality of the information provided, whether through online means or any other channel, in compliance with the applicable legislation, including the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, regarding the protection of individuals concerning the processing of personal data.

2. The collection of personal data occurs during the registration process for the “Farm to Fork” Congress. This information is necessary and mandatory to verify the identity of the person registering. By registering for the event, participants’ email addresses will be added to the mailing list, through which notifications or correspondence related to the Congress will be shared. The collected data will be used for the following purposes:
– Sending information about the congress;
– Sending registration confirmations or any other relevant information;
– Providing certificates of attendance, presentation of works, speakers, among others;
– Sharing information about future events related to the congress.

The collected and stored data include personal and professional information provided by participants and authors through an online form designed specifically for this purpose. In case any essential parameter is missing, it may be requested through other means, such as phone or email.

The information collected includes personal information (such as name and fiscal identification number), contact information (such as email and phone), and professional information (e.g., student, researcher, etc., in case of being a student, a certificate of enrollment issued by the educational institution will be required).

3. Participants may request, in writing, the update of the information provided to CATAA or request the deletion of their data by using the Congress email, farmtofork@cataa.pt. It should be noted that while requests are processed promptly, they may still take some time to be completed.

4. The presence of participants and authors of works will not be publicly disclosed on any platform or public forum, such as social media, except for possible photographic records taken during the three days of the congress.

5. During the event, there will be photography and/or video recording, and any participant may be subject to image or audio capture during the Congress, both by the organization and by partners, sponsors, and media present at the event. If you do not authorize the use of your image and/or audio, and it has been shared, please immediately inform CATAA through a written request (via email) at farmtofork@cataa.pt, explicitly indicating the record you want to be deleted. Please note that CATAA is not responsible for materials and content disclosed by partners, sponsors, and/or media, so if your image/audio is shared by any of these entities, please contact them directly.

6. The organization will publish the winners of posters and the program of oral communications and posters, which will include the title of the work, author(s), and their contact information, on official communication channels during the event. By accepting these terms when submitting abstracts, it is implied that the authors authorize the disclosure of the aforementioned data.

7. The provided personal data will be stored and retained only for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, not exceeding 90 consecutive days. Afterward, the data will be destroyed.

8. CATAA protects personal data by taking all legally required measures to ensure online and offline security of the transmitted information. These measures aim to protect personal data against accidental destruction, loss, or alteration, as well as to prevent unauthorized access, and include data encryption and security of processing applications.

9. CATAA may update this privacy policy at any time, so please review it periodically. By continuing to participate and author works, you signify your acceptance of any amended terms.
